The Process & Timeline
April 2023
Nicole Initiated Traffic Calming measures for Terry Mill Road and was put in contact with Annette Eason from DeKalb County Public Works Department.
November 2023
We received the preliminary design for our street. Door to door contact was initiated to receive feedback, with limited answers. Flyers sent out with QR codes to vote in approval of the design, and only a handful of responses were received. Feedback was sent to Annette and relayed back to residents as needed.
January 2025
Submitted our petition to Annette with well over 70 votes in favor of traffic calming measures on the road.
July 2023
We passed the speed and traffic test. On average, people drive down terry mill at 36mph. Our speed limit is 25mph.
September 2024
With limited responses, we moved forward with the design as-is. We had a few requested edits, but the county was unable to change anything due to limitations of the speed tables needing to be certain distances from driveways and streets.
February 2025
We heard back from Annette that she could only validate 63 of the 70+ “yes” votes we had. Since we had so many votes in favor, she allowed us until March to “fix” the remaining votes we needed.
September 2023
Informational zoom meeting was held between our neighborhood and Annette Eason, who reviewed the process from start to finish and the different types of traffic calming measures that we may find on our street once she works through a design. Annette left flyers on the street — Only a handful of people showed up.
October 2024
1st BOC (Board of Commissioners) meeting was held. The Commissioners all voted unanimously to have us move forward with the petition process, needing to collect 65% of homeowners’ signatures on our street who are in favor of speed tables.
March 2025
We passed!
2nd BOC meeting was scheduled for May 13th for the Commissioners to give a final OK on installation.
